A Spacecraft to the Moon - Current event blog

Recently, India sent an unmanned spacecraft to the moon. Chandrayaan (spacecraft name) was sent on October 22, 2008 at 2:52 in the morning. The spacecraft now has sucessfully reached the moon whereas it's starting point was at Sriharikota, Chennai India. India's first spacecraft was sent to find more useful information about the moon. They inserted a device called the "Moon Impact Probe" and will eject itself out, scanning information. The spacecraft is generated through a carted single sided solar array for propellant life for 2 years. The mission's goal is to carry out high resolution mapping of the moon's topographic features in 3D.

This mission is useful because this could build up India's technical and scientic capabilities like, data interpretation systems, ground support systems and communication systems.

All About Gorillas

Gorilla have unique charateristics. Take a look at this infromation of what they do in there habitats.



Diet:

Gorillas eat leaves, seeds, stems, termites and caterpillars. 67% of the gorilla's diet is fruit. Some of the fruit they eat are bananas, grapes and cantelopes. Gorillas rarely drink from rivers and ponds because they drink from succulent vegetation and drink the morning dew.



Communication:

Scientists estimated that gorillas use 22 distant sounds for communication. Some of the distant sounds are grunts, howls, whimpers, snorts and the most known is whooping with chest pounding. Gorillas use their distant sounds before their afternoon sleep to show that their working period is over.



Senses:

Hearing is very important to gorillas because it locates one another to detect danger. Smell is also very important to gorillas. Since gorillas are able to detect strong odors, like body sweat, they can detect that there is danger. Gorilla have good eyesight. At day, from far away distances, they can detect if a fruit has ripened or not.



In my opinion I believe that gorillas truly do have unique charateristics. Gorillas are now getting extincted because of wars, dieases from humans and even constructions.
